There are 2 types of test a finger prick test and a venous blood test;
The finger prick test will detect positive antibodies 97.5% of the time,the finger prick test which requires a small amount of blood provides results are available with 10 minutes.
The venous blood test is 99.9% accurate and is processed by a laboratory, results are normal available with 2-3 days. Results are provided by phone initially and followed by a lab report.
If you have recently had symptoms it’s is advised that you wait at least 14 days until you take a test to enable your body develop antibodies to COVID-19.
There are however things to consider before taking it. Receiving a positive antibody test result does not confer immunity, and it is important that people understand a positive test result does not mean you can be any more relaxed with the required hygiene and social distancing measures as set out by the government.
